Strategic Plan: FY 2006 and 2007

The Strategic Planning Committee completed its review of Region 10's previous plan, our mission statement, and discussed agency strengths, needs, threats and opportunities. From this, the committee identified a proposed plan including goals and objectives for the Board to consider at its October meeting. The Board of Directors reviewed and approved the plan as proposed for Region 10 for the upcoming biennium and submitted it to the Bureau of Developmental Services. As in the past, the Committee will monitor progress toward the identified objectives throughout the biennium. The next step will be to identify individuals interested in working together to develop strategies for accomplishing each of the objectives in the plan.

I. SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES :

  • GOAL A : Strengthen Day Program Services for Individuals

Objective 1 : Develop Individualized Descriptions of Day Program Services as part of the service agreement process and incorporate reporting on services as part of a monthly progress review.

Objective 2 : Develop and implement an internal review process for day services as part of Region 10's Quality Improvement Plan.

Objective 3 : Co-ordinate Training Opportunities for Staff and Providers to assist them to plan and provide meaningful day program services:

Objective 4 : Identify employment goals of individuals receiving day services as part of the service agreement process and monitor success in meeting those goals as part of the employment reporting process:

  • GOAL B: Assure Quality Health Care Nursing Supports for individuals

Objective 1: Review systems in place to respond to complex health care/nursing needs of identified individuals and initiate any needed actions to strengthen services:

  • GOAL C: Increase Independence and Expand opportunities for greater choice and control:

Objective 1: Identify individuals who want to live more independently; assess needs; review current options and develop a strategy to respond to their needs .

Objective 2: Develop a training module for individuals and families interested in “exercising greater control” of resources to coordinate their services and support.

  • GOAL D: Increase access to “respite” services

Objective 1 : Eliminate the “waiting list” for respite services

  • GOAL E : Provide On Going Review of ESS

Objective 1: Survey families of children who terminate ESS services to assess the quality of services and family satisfaction with supports through the involved vendors and Region 10

 

II. ENHANCING RELATIONSHIPS  

  • GOAL F: Support Individuals to develop and maintain relationships

Objective 1: Increase social opportunities for adults either living alone or with their family members and assist them to develop and maintain relationships through participation in recreation/leisure activities.

Objective 2: Continue collaborating with local school district (s) to establish “Best Buddies” within the school setting and explore opportunities available through other community organizations such as the Big Brother program .

Objective 3 : Identify individuals most vulnerable to “loneliness” and develop strategies to assist them to have opportunities for spending holidays and special days with others to make their holidays and special days happier.

 

III. DEVELOPING COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

  • GOAL G: Increase involvement of Region 10 within the activities and functions of our communities

Objective 1 : Develop a plan to increase awareness of Region 10 within our communities and implement strategies during the biennium.

Objective 2: Develop and implement a plan to expand Region 10's participation in local community events and involvement and collaboration with local businesses and other community organizations.

 

MAXIMIZING AGENCY OPERATIONS AND RESOURCES 

•  GOAL H: Expand agency revenue and resources

Objective 1: Establish a regional development plan and implement identified strategies throughout the biennium:

Objective 2: Support the Fundraising Committee to continue co-ordination of the 3 major events: Folktale Carnival; Golf Tournament and Silent Auction

Objective 3: Explore new areas in which Region 10 can involve volunteers to make meaningful contributions and develop strategies for volunteer recruitment and support volunteers as determined.

  • GOAL I : Strengthen our foundation:

Objective 1 : Identify strategies to provide positive support to maintain relationships and involvement and implement them during the biennium.

Objective 2 : Develop an IT Plan to identify ways to increase efficiency in agency operations and implement them during the biennium

  • GOAL J: Maintain Region 10's Quality Improvement Focus

Objective 1 : Develop QI strategies and implement them as part of the Region 10 annual QI plan
